Loop are excited to announce the return of Fly My Pretties with a brand-new show and musical experience for the first time in eight years. Entitled Elemental, this new show will be led by frontman Barnaby Weir & frequent collaborator Laughton Kora, alongside a cast of both familiar and undiscovered musicians.
Elemental welcomes newcomers AJA, Riiki Reid, Taylah, Louis TM and TAWAZ, all marking their first collaboration with Fly My Pretties and bringing with them an incredibly diverse range of musical styles and experiences. Leading the charge alongside these new vocalists and performers, Barnaby Weir will be joined by returning members Laughton Kora, Iraia Whakamoe & Ryan Prebble (The Nudge), Nigel Patterson (The Black Seeds) and Aaron Stewart.
Debuting as part of the Wellington Jazz Festival, each show will be performed and recorded live and exclusively at The Great Hall at Massey University in Wellington, and created in partnership with Massey University. The recordings will make up Fly My Pretties’ seventh live project, and the first since 2016’s String Theory.
This new show will see this group of musicians exploring a range of fundamental human, spiritual and natural elements through waiata. 20 years since the debut of Fly My Pretties with the iconic Live At Bats, they will return to their spiritual home of Wellington for an all new musical exploration not to be missed.
Each show will see not only this new collection of songs being performed for the first time, but also a second set of Fly My Pretties classics being reimagined by this new cast of musicians. Saturday will also see a matinee performance, alongside evening performances on Friday and Saturday. The show will take place exclusively at the stunning setting of Wellington’s Great Hall, inside of the former Dominion Museum overlooking Wellington city.
Presented by Loop, brought to you by Cassels Brewing Co, Main Divide, Radioactive.FM & Massey University
